• WORKSHOP | I470 | Let the glass speak: Stained glass layered landscape

Glasstronomy Studios 2600 John St., Unit 108, Markham, ON, Canada

Sometimes, a piece of glass speaks for itself. Perhaps it’s a bold sweep of colour, a swirling pattern, or the unexpected beauty of a uniquely rolled edge. The challenge becomes: how do you cut into something that is already beautiful all on its own? Sometimes, you simply don’t! Instead, explore the possibilities of layering, plating, and embellishing glass to preserve the qualities that first caught your eye. By combining glass with sheet copper, mirror, dimensional details, and found forms, you’ll discover new ways to build depth, texture, and visual interest without sacrificing the natural character of the glass. In this one-day workshop, participants will work with Youghiogheny rolled glass ends, copper sheet and foil, mirror, box frames, and detailed animal forms to create a one-of-a-kind, 8-inch x 10-inch framed landscape that balances material, composition, and personal expression. Whether it becomes a thoughtful gift for the nature lover in your life or an expressive sculptural piece to display and admire, your finished work will celebrate the beauty of letting the materials guide the art. All project materials are included. Previous glass-cutting and soldering experience required. When: Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm Fee: $225 + HST (includes all project materials)

  • COURSE | G323 | Fused glass mosaic: A monochromatic study

Glasstronomy Studios 2600 John St., Unit 108, Markham, ON, Canada

From ancient, tiled murals to contemporary abstracts, glass mosaics have long captivated us with their colour, pattern, and visual rhythm. But what if you could capture the expressive beauty of mosaic art without the mess or the limitations of a purely visual surface? Welcome to fused glass mosaics — a tactile, dimensional, and surprisingly seamless approach to this timeless art form! Over four evenings, participants will explore the creative possibilities of a monochromatic palette using 96 COE compatible glass to design and create a one-of-a-kind 12-inch × 18-inch fused glass mosaic. Week one: Explore design principles including contrast, visual flow, composition, and expressionism, to develop your original mosaic design. Weeks two and three: Discover the art of mosaic construction, experiment with monochromatic colour selection, and prepare your composition for kiln firing. Week four: Bring your mosaic together with a glass grout application, revealing the finished composition and the beautiful interplay of colour, texture, and form. Experience the finishing process that transforms individual glass elements into a unified work of art! You have to see it to believe it! All project materials and kiln firings are included. Beginner glass fusers are welcome. Glass cutting experience is required. When: Thursdays, November 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026, from 7 to 10 pm Fee: $495 + HST (includes all project materials and kiln firings)
