Glasstronomy Studios 2600 John St., Unit 108, Markham, ON, Canada

From ancient, tiled murals to contemporary abstracts, glass mosaics have long captivated us with their colour, pattern, and visual rhythm. But what if you could capture the expressive beauty of mosaic art without the mess or the limitations of a purely visual surface? Welcome to fused glass mosaics — a tactile, dimensional, and surprisingly seamless approach to this timeless art form! Over four evenings, participants will explore the creative possibilities of a monochromatic palette using 96 COE compatible glass to design and create a one-of-a-kind 12-inch × 18-inch fused glass mosaic. Week one: Explore design principles including contrast, visual flow, composition, and expressionism, to develop your original mosaic design. Weeks two and three: Discover the art of mosaic construction, experiment with monochromatic colour selection, and prepare your composition for kiln firing. Week four: Bring your mosaic together with a glass grout application, revealing the finished composition and the beautiful interplay of colour, texture, and form.
