Welcome to Glasstronomy Studios’ adult art glass workshop program. This calendar details workshops and courses offered from November to December 2025.

Whether adding to your holiday décor or gifting to your favourite people, this season’s projects and techniques will make memories for years to come. Registration is now open.

How to register

To register, we currently accept payment in person (cash, Debit, MasterCard and Visa), by email (e-transfer), or by phone (MasterCard and Visa). Please note that HST will be added to the listed fee at time of payment.

Cancellation policy: A Studio credit will be issued for cancellations up to 7 days before start date. We regret that Studio credits will not be issued under the 7-day threshold.

Studio credits can be applied to a future purchase of a workshop or course.

Courses

  • COURSE | A443 | Bigger IS better | Holiday edition (November 6, 13, 20, 27, 2025)

    Just in time for holiday decorating or gift giving, this season’s “Bigger IS Better” course is your opportunity to take on that bold fused or stained glass project — with Melanie Kidd’s expert support and guidance. Whether you're envisioning a stained glass fireplace screen that radiates holiday warmth or a striking fused glass sculpture to enhance your indoor/outdoor décor, this course will help you design, engineer, and create a showstopping piece to enjoy all season long.

    Participants will also dive into technical essentials such as kiln programming, structural support, and armature design.

    Materials and services are offered à la carte and will be determined by the end of the first class on a per project basis.

  • COURSE | B241 | Beginner stained glass: Holiday edition (November 1, 8, and 15, 2025)

    Celebrate this season with stained glass! Enjoy the play of light through brightly coloured glass this holiday season while learning something new or practicing the craft you have come to enjoy.

    In this three-morning course, participants will learn how to safely handle tools and materials to cut, shape, foil and solder glass while creating a stunning 8-inch round stained glass poinsettia panel. Once complete, each piece will be ready to display or give as a meaningful holiday gift.

    All project materials included.

    When: Saturdays, November 1, 8, and 15, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm
    Fee: $195 + HST (includes all project materials)

  • COURSE | A444 | Art glass monograph: A study in stained and fused glass | January 10, 17, and 24, 2026

    Begin the new year with curiosity and creativity. Join Melanie for this three-day course exploring a single subject matter in stained and fused glass. From design concept to execution, participants will create eight, 4 x 6-inch panels featuring classic glass techniques, including copper foil, lead came, copper overlay, solder sculpture, glass painting, fusing, impasto, and more. Each composition will be a unique personal expression of harmonious form and craftsmanship.

    Upon completion, the individual pieces will be assembled into a refined multi-panel frame, ready to display, cherish, or gift to someone special.

    All project materials and firings included.

    When: Saturdays, January 10, 17, and 24, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm

  • COURSE | B209 | Beginner stained glass: Lead came technique (February 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026)

    Welcome to stained glass! Welcome to stained glass! Bright and engaging, stained glass is a wonderful medium to inspire creativity and relaxation. This three-week course includes hands on instruction in traditional lead came stained glass in our spacious and fully-equipped studio. Participants will learn how to safely handle, cut, and break sheet glass, and lead and glaze an 8 x 10-inch stained glass panel.

    Some glass, metals, chemicals, and tool usage included.

    When: Thursdays, February 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2026, from 7 to 10 pm

  • TUTORIAL | T514Z | Glass inclusions: Metal, Mica, and more (November 7, 2025)

    Glass can capture several different materials including metal, Mica, slides, and more. Join Melanie Kidd for an exploration of the dos and don’ts of including non-glass elements in your glass projects. Learn how to minimize bubbles, blow-outs, and maximize your inclusion success.

    When: Friday, November 7, 2025, from noon to 1 pm

Workshops

  • WORKSHOP | I457B | Part 2 | All about lampshade making: Lamp assembly (November 1, 2025)

    By popular request — it’s time to make your stained glass lamp dreams a reality!

    If you’ve been longing to create a stained glass lampshade — whether Tiffany-style, Prairie, or a classic panel lamp — but don’t know where to begin, this two-part workshop series is designed to guide and motivate you through the entire process.

    In Part two, once you’ve had time to work on your piece, you’ll return to get hands-on support and guidance to assemble and complete your lamp.

    Glass cutting and soldering experience required.

    Project materials are not included.

    When: Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm

  • WORKSHOP | G308 | Glass and clay holiday ornaments (November 8 and 15, 2025)

    Let your imagination go with something different this holiday season! Explore the process of combining clay and glass in the kiln as you create your own holiday ornaments. Join Millean for two mornings of multi-media fun in time for holiday decorating and gift giving.

    In this two-part interactive session, participants will learn how to hand-build using low fire clay as well as how to create fused glass cabochons using 96 COE glass and Glassline paint.

    All project materials and firings included.

    Beginners are welcome! This is a great activity to do with the junior crafter in your life.

    When: Saturdays, November 8 and 15, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm

  • WORKSHOP | A445 | Fused glass technique: Winter woods (November 8, 15, and 22, 2025)

    The winter woods exude a quiet peace — snow resting gently on pine boughs, dry aspen leaves whispering as cardinals in their brilliant winter plumage dart and play. The joy of the first snowfall invites us to pause, reflect, and celebrate the beauty of the season.

    In this three-afternoon workshop, you’ll capture that serene winter magic by creating your own one-of-a-kind landscape greeting, beautifully framed in a custom 10 x 24-inch metal frame. Your masterpiece will showcase the remarkable versatility of vitrigraph kiln techniques, Glassline paint, and layered glass engineering.

    Participants will learn to create vitrigraph rods, experiment with frittage, and explore our newest vittrage technique. Once assembled and mirror-backed, your finished piece will be a stunning showstopper — bringing a sense of calm and beauty to any home all season long.

  • WORKSHOP | G309 | Fusing technique: Bas relief holiday serving tray (November 29, 2025)

    Contemporary design meets form and function. Join Elizabeth for a rewarding day of creativity as you craft a beautiful 12 x 16-inch fused glass serving tray using the technique of layered bas relief — a low-relief sculptural method where designs are gently raised above the background, adding interest, depth and texture.

    Working with Duraboard and Durafibre of varying thicknesses, participants will create dimensional textures with 96 COE double-thick clear and coloured cathedral glass.

    All project base glass, fibre materials, and firings are included.

    Coloured cathedral glass not included. Participants must bring or purchase two to six coloured cathedral 96 COE sheets (minimum 1/3 of a standard 12 x 12-inch sheet per colour). Contrasting or variants of warm or cool tones in light to medium density will best show the detail.

    When: Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm
    Fee: $195 + HST (project base glass, fibre materials, and firings are included) + two to six colours of cathedral 96 COE sheet glass



  • WORKSHOP | G310 | Fused glass technique: Mosaic holiday half round (December 4 and 11, 2025)

    The beauty of light dancing across shiny glass brings warmth and elegance to any space during the holiday season. Add a touch of function, and it becomes the perfect opportunity to create a fused glass mosaic piece to gift — or to keep and enjoy yourself.

    Inspired by the tradition of glass mosaics made with tile adhesive and grout, this simplified fused glass technique allows for layering and illumination, adding depth and brilliance to your design.

    Over two creative evenings, participants will learn how to apply, grout, and layer 96 COE glass and accessories to create a 10-inch half-round piece of clear sheet glass. Each participant will choose from:

    A. A wall/stocking hook design
    B. A candle screen
    C. A Hanukkiah

    All project materials and firings are included.

    When: Thursdays, December 4 and 11, 2025, from 7 to 10 pm
    Fee: $175 + HST (includes all project materials and firings) + Optional metal display components

  • WORKSHOP | I459 | Fused and foiled: Holiday glow light (December 6 and 13)

    Add some humour and festive cheer to your home this holiday season with a whimsical mantle light that combines the best of fused and stained glass artistry. Using 96 COE glass and accessories, participants will design and create a playful holiday scene housed within a copper-overlayed, three-dimensional table lamp. Whether you choose Santa sliding down the chimney, Rudolf relaxing in the sleigh, or a sack of goodies ready to be delivered, these charming interactive glass sculptures are sure to bring smiles — and maybe a chuckle — to you and your guests alike.

    This workshop also covers three-dimensional construction techniques and glass drilling, giving you the skills to bring your festive ideas to life.

    All project materials and firing are included.

    When: Saturdays, December 6 and 13, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm
