Fall 2025 | Part 1: Get back on track

Welcome to Glasstronomy Studios’ adult art glass workshop program. This calendar details workshops and courses offered from September to November 2025. Holiday projects will be featured in our Fall 2025 (Part 2) calendar.

From fused glass to stained glass, with techniques galore, get ready for hands-on fun, expert guidance, and endless inspiration. What are you waiting for? Registration is now open.

How to register

To register, we currently accept payment in person (cash, Debit, MasterCard and Visa), by email (e-transfer), or by phone (MasterCard and Visa). Please note that HST will be added to the listed fee at time of payment.

If you plan to register during August, we are accepting e-transfer and phone payments. Please email us at info@glasstronomystudios.ca and we will send you an itemized invoice detailing your workshop or course selection and the total fee (including HST).

Cancellation policy: A Studio credit will be issued for cancellations up to 7 days before start date. We regret that Studio credits will not be issued under the 7-day threshold.

Studio credits can be applied to a future purchase of a workshop or course.

Courses

  • Course | B238 | Beginner/Intermediate stained glass: Copper foil and lead combination technique (September 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, 2025)

    Elevate your stained glass skills in this six-evening intermediate course, designed for beginners as well as those with some experience in glass art. Dive deeper into both copper foil and lead came techniques, and expand your creative repertoire by working on more complex projects that showcase your artistic vision.

    Each session will feature guided instruction, hands-on practice, and constructive feedback, fostering a collaborative and inspiring environment. You’ll leave with a completed 10-inch x 16-inch stained glass project that reflects your style and enhanced skills.

    What you will learn:

    • Advanced design principles: Explore composition, colour theory, and how to create dynamic designs that harmonize both techniques.
    • Refining cutting skills: Improve your glass cutting proficiency with advanced techniques and tips for achieving precise and intricate shapes.
    • Copper foil techniques: Delve into more complex designs using copper foil, including copper overlay and wire work for greater detail and dimension.
    • Lead came techniques: Master the nuances of lead came construction, learning how to add stability and framing to your stained glass panel.
    • Finishing techniques: Learn the best practices for soldering, glazing, cleaning, polishing, and framing your pieces, ensuring a professional finish.

  • Course | A443 | Bigger IS better: Holiday edition (November 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025)

    Just in time for holiday decorating or gift giving, this season’s “Bigger IS Better” course is your opportunity to take on that bold fused or stained glass project — with Melanie Kidd’s expert support and guidance. Whether you're envisioning a stained glass fireplace screen that radiates holiday warmth or a striking fused glass sculpture to enhance your indoor/outdoor décor, this course will help you design, engineer, and create a showstopping piece to enjoy all season long.

    Participants will also dive into technical essentials such as kiln programming, structural support, and armature design.

    When: Thursdays, November 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2025, from 7 to 10 pm
    Fee: $295 + Project materials, kiln firings, or framing

    Materials and services are offered à la carte and will be determined by the end of the first class on a per project basis.





Workshops

  • Workshop | A442 | Sculptural fusing: Autumn wreath (September 18, 20, and 27, 2025)

    You asked for it — and we’re delivering in a big way! We’re kicking off the season with a showstopping 24-inch fused glass ornamental wreath, packed with vibrant techniques and festive flair. This one-of-a-kind display piece features a variety of fused and slumped seasonal ornaments, showcasing skills like glass weaving, stringer and “ping” making, and metal inclusions.

    Whether your autumnal style leans towards corn on the cob, hot peppers, sunflowers, baskets, or even a mischievous crow, you’ll create unique accents using 96 COE glass, glass accessories, DuraBoard, kiln fibre, high-fire wire, and sheet copper. Over the first two sessions, participants will craft as many pieces as possible. On the final morning, you’ll bring it all together — assembling your masterpiece with a 24-inch twig wreath, faux autumn foliage, and your custom fused creations to enjoy all season long.

    When: Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 7 to 10 pm, Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 am to 4 pm, AND Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm
    Fee: $625 + HST (includes all project materials and kiln firings)

  • Workshop | I457A | Part 1 | All about lampshade making: Getting started (September 27, 2025)

    By popular request — it’s time to make your stained glass lamp dreams a reality! If you’ve been longing to create a stained glass lampshade — whether Tiffany-style, Prairie, or a classic panel lamp — but don’t know where to begin, this two-part workshop series is designed to guide and motivate you through the entire process.

    Between sessions, it’s homework time! You are welcome to continue your project during Open Studio hours — Tuesday evenings from 7 to 10 pm or Thursday afternoons from 1 to 4 pm (Open Studio fees apply).

    In Part one, we will cover everything you need to know to get started, including how to:

    • choose your design,
    • plan your project, and
    • determine what supplies you’ll need.

    When: Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm
    Fee: $95 per session (Part 1) + HST OR $175 for both sessions (Parts 1 and 2) + HST + All project materials

    Glass cutting and soldering experience required.
    Materials are not included.


  • Workshop | I457B | Part 2 | All about lampshade making: Lamp assembly (November 1, 2025)

    By popular request — it’s time to make your stained glass lamp dreams a reality! If you’ve been longing to create a stained glass lampshade — whether Tiffany-style, Prairie, or a classic panel lamp — but don’t know where to begin, this two-part series of workshops is designed to guide and motivate you through the entire process.

    In Part two, once you’ve had time to work on your piece, you’ll return to get hands-on support and guidance to assemble and complete your lamp.

  • Workshop | G307 | Fusing fun: Blingified pendant making (October 4, 2025)

    Be honest — who doesn’t love a little sparkle? Perfect for beginners and intermediate fusers alike, this fun and relaxed morning workshop will introduce you to the magic of our favourite metallic-coated marvel: dichroic glass.

    Using dichroic glass, known for its rich, colour shifting depth, 96 COE glass, and kiln fibre, participants will learn the basics of kiln firing while creating as many pieces as they can during this two-hour session. Once fired, choose six of your favourites to finish with silver-coloured jewellery bails — making them ready to wear on your favourite chain or to give as beautiful, hand-made gifts.

    When: Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10 am to 12 pm
    Fee: $115 + HST (includes all project materials and kiln firings)

  • Workshop | G302 | All about Glassline with Millean Kung (October 4, 2025)

    Ready to take your creativity to the next level? For those who missed it the first time around, guest artist, Millean Kung, is back! Join Millean for this exciting workshop exploring a variety of techniques using Glassline products, including chalk, paint, and paper — all designed to help create vibrant textures and stunning 3D effects.

    Learn how to apply techniques like dabbing, sponging, and streaking, and then layer them to craft your own 4-inch x 4-inch x ½-inch art glass block.

    Arrange a time with your instructor to come back and cold work your piece.

    Learn and love:

    • Easy-to-learn techniques using Glassline products
    • How to layer colours and textures for bold, 3D visual effects
    • A fun and rewarding creative process
    • A one-of-a-kind layered glass block — ready to display!

    When: Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm

  • Tutorial | T513Z | Repairs 101 (October 10, 2025)

    Do you have some broken stained or fused glass projects you (or a loved one) can’t bear to part with? Join Melanie Kidd for a one-hour troubleshooting session to discuss the best options and steps to fixing that treasured project. Are you up for a challenge?

    When: Friday, October 10, 2025, from noon to 1 pm

  • Tutorial | T514Z | Glass inclusions: Metal, Mica, and more (November 7, 2025)

    Glass can capture several different materials including metal, Mica, slides, and more. Join Melanie Kidd for an exploration of the dos and don’ts of including non-glass elements in your glass projects. Learn how to minimize bubbles, blow-outs, and maximize your inclusion success.

    When: Friday, November 7, 2025, from noon to 1 pm
