    COURSE | B209 | Beginner stained glass: Lead came technique

    Welcome to stained glass! Bright and engaging, stained glass is a wonderful medium to inspire creativity and relaxation. This four-week course includes hands on instruction in traditional lead came stained glass in our spacious and fully-equipped studio. Participants will learn how to safely handle, cut, and break sheet glass, and lead and glaze an 8 x 10-inch stained glass panel. Some glass, metals, chemicals, and tool usage included. Beginners are welcome! When: October 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2026, from 7 to 10 pm Fee: $325 + HST (includes some project glass, metals, chemicals and tool usage)

    Sometimes, a piece of glass speaks for itself. Perhaps it’s a bold sweep of colour, a swirling pattern, or the unexpected beauty of a uniquely rolled edge. The challenge becomes: how do you cut into something that is already beautiful all on its own? Sometimes, you simply don’t! Instead, explore the possibilities of layering, plating, and embellishing glass to preserve the qualities that first caught your eye. By combining glass with sheet copper, mirror, dimensional details, and found forms, you’ll discover new ways to build depth, texture, and visual interest without sacrificing the natural character of the glass. In this one-day workshop, participants will work with Youghiogheny rolled glass ends, copper sheet and foil, mirror, box frames, and detailed animal forms to create a one-of-a-kind, 8-inch x 10-inch framed landscape that balances material, composition, and personal expression. Whether it becomes a thoughtful gift for the nature lover in your life or an expressive sculptural piece to display and admire, your finished work will celebrate the beauty of letting the materials guide the art. All project materials are included. Previous glass-cutting and soldering experience required. When: Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm Fee: $225 + HST (includes all project materials)

Discover the joy of creating with glass in one of our festive beginner workshops. Whether exploring the magic of kiln-fired colour or catching rainbows through sparkling bevels, participants will learn new skills, experiment with beautiful materials, and create a seasonal treasure to gift or enjoy at home. Better together! Register for either beginner workshop with a friend and enjoy 10% off the workshop fee for each participant when you sign up as a pair. We love the rainbows that dance through beveled glass, especially during the holidays! Join us for a morning of hands-on bevel and solder play as sparkling glass elements come together in a seasonal snowflake, perfect for gifting or displaying throughout the winter months. Participants will be introduced to the traditional copper-foil technique, learning to wrap and solder glass bevels and beads as well as basic decorative soldering techniques, to create a 6-inch to 8-inch glass suncatcher. Explore the satisfying process of joining individual glass elements while discovering how light, texture, and reflective surfaces bring this winter-inspired design to life. A little sparkle, a little soldering, and a beautiful handmade keepsake to take home! All project materials are included. Beginners are welcome.
